Singapore Education Academy (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd or SEA is the holding company for the Group’s education businesses. The Education Group is involved in a variety of best of class educational product and services that cater to children and adults, globally. Specifically, the group companies focus on K – 12 educational areas such as AI and cognitive, emotional, engagement based state-of-the art personalised products and APPs; delivering educational products and  services for schools; tuition franchise services for  end to end tutoring – face to face, online and home tutoring services; Service related Skill related areas for adults. The companies’ business interest spans geographies of Asia Pacific, Europe, USA and beyond

The company has more than 16 years of experience in the areas of educational publishing, tutoring centres franchising and management, adult skills development and international consultancy.

Prof S Gopinathan

Former Professor at the Office of Education Research at Singapore’s National Institute of Education. Beyond teacher education, he has also served on various Ministry of Education review committees in policy development, as a Resource Specialist for the Government Parliamentary Committee on Education as well as a consultant for the Singapore Teachers Union and Singapore’s Examinations Authority.

Dean of Science and Engineering at the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. He is also the Chairperson of the SCHOLAR Forum which is a national e-learning initiative which has sold innovative web-based courseware to all the education authorities in Scotland.
Mr Karan Khemka

Senior Principal and India Head of the Parthenon Group (Strategy Consulting / Commercial Due Diligence). He has served as a consultant in education industry segments and strategy developments worldwide to leading for-profit higher education providers in China, India and the UK as well as the English as Foreign Language (EFL) franchises that has significant operations in Asian markets.

Dr N Varaprasad

Former Chief Executive of National Library Board since 2004. He has made many significant contributions to public service and the educational field in Singapore, and was awarded the Public Administration Award (Gold) in 1996. He was the former Deputy VC of NUS and the founding Principal of Temasek Polytechnic.

Mr Martyn Ian Roads

Director of MR Educational Consultants Ltd and eAssessment Tomorrow Ltd, and Chairman of the BECTA eAssessment Advisory Group. He has supported the management of various annual e-assessment conferences in the UK and overseas, and served as advisor to awarding bodies on the development of e-assessment strategies and the QCA NI’s DEL project on widening the use of e-assessment in Northern Ireland.

Mr Steve Suggs

Former president of Tech Realtime Inc. (US software company) and Former Chief Operating Officer of Hydro Phi Incorporated where he is managing and developing a series of alternative energy products. He has developed operating softwares that estimates, stimulates and executes critical path software due to be implemented in all of ExxonMobil’s Manufacturing facilities around the world by 2011.

Mr.Alok Sharma

Alok Sharma has worked for 25 years in the technology sector and entrepreneurship. He became an entrepreneur in 2009 to build companies with focus on technology, innovation and environment. He is currently the CEO of Nature Ecoventures, an incubation and project development company that focuses across industry sectors. Prior to 2009, he served as the Managing Director for Apple India for 5 years wherein he grew the business 10X in that period. Earlier, he was part of the management team which built Sun Microsystems India and was later the Director, partner Development (South Asia ) based out of Singapore.

Mr R. Sinnakaruppan

He has been involved, in the past 28 years in educational policy making in various capacities  including as a Member of Parliament,  Chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee (Education) and also  served in the Boards of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education (ITE),Media Development Authority, National Internet Committee etc. 

He had also served as Chairman of Advisory Council of Continuing Education and Training ( ACCET Singapore) and at  Singapore National Trade Union Congress, he served as Assistant Secretary General and Director of Skills Development , Director of Productivity & Leadership Development.

Outside the education sector, he has served in  numerous public and private sector Boards and Committees, including Housing & Development Board, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, National Healthcare Group, Singapore Design Council,SINDA Board of Trustees, SLF Leisure Enterprises,  PT Texmaco Perkasa Engineering, NTUC Club, NTU Alumni Club etc.

He was educated at Raffles Institution (O & A Levels), Nanyang Technological University( BEng Mechanical Engineering , Loughborough University ( MSc Robotics & Flexible Manufacturing Systems) and Harvard Business School ( ISMP/AMP). He is a Esso Sports Scholarship  and Foreign and Commonwealth Scholarship holder. He is a national hockey player, university athlete and a keen golfer and tennis player.

Mr Steve Ting

He was the Executive Chairman of British Telecom South East Asia from 2008 to 2012. He is a veteran in the information technology industry with more than 30 years of experience holding management positions in various multi-national corporations such as Hewlett Packard and Mentor Graphics Associates Pte Ltd. He is currently active in providing guidance in entrepreneurship via lectures and seminars. He has been awarded the prestigious Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year (Business Services & Technology) in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements.

Main shareholder and Chairman / CEO of Singapore Education Academy Pte Ltd (SEA). He has served and continues to serve on the board of directors in various organisations such as the National Healthcare Group Pte Ltd, Nanyang Technological University, Institute of Technical Education, Singapore Polytechnic, Media Development Authority and Accel Frontline (India). He served as a member of Parliament (1991-2002) and the Assistant Secretary-General of NTUC (1994-98).

Mr Koh Boon Long

(Academic /Pedagogy)

An experienced educationist of 48 years service and has also taught various leadership, educational and teacher-training modules as an adjunct teaching fellow at NIE, Nanyang Technological University since 1998. 

He has also worked as an Adjunct Academic Staff at the NIE ,curriculum and assessment developer cum advisor (at Ministry of Education’s Academy of Singapore Teachers), Mr Koh served as a School’s Head of Department, Junior College Vice-Principal, Secondary School Principal, and as Deputy Director (National Education & School Planning) at the MOE HQ.

Since 2006, he has also assisted the NIE and the Singapore Teachers’ Union in various consultancy and provided advice on curriculum planning and development to countries such as Bhutan, India (Mumbai), Indonesia (Jakarta & Surabaya), Thailand (Bangkok), United Arab Republic (Dubai & Abu Dhabi), Vietnam (Hanoi, Da Nang & HCMC), etc. Mr Koh was appointed Trainer of Trainers in 2013 for the Indonesian MOE to do periodic training of Master Trainers from various Indonesian provinces – especially with regard to their management of their national curriculum.

Mr Koh holds a M.Ed degree from NTU, with concentration on curriculum planning, design, and development. In addition, he obtained the Diploma of Educational Administration (with Distinction) from NIE. His first degree is BA (NUS).

Curriculum Advisor

An Assistant Professor in National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore for more than a decade. Her stint in NIE, both in the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice as well as the English Language and Literature Department makes her professional expertise highly unique as she is trained not only in the theoretical but the applied aspects of language and literacy development. Currently, she advises several Singapore schools and organizations on reading projects.

Kenneth is an experienced educationist and entrepreneur with experience in both the IT and education/tuition sectors. Besides successfully managing several local SMEs in software development and tuition centres, he also developed a keen interest in the education technology industry for innovation through technology. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from National University of Singapore.
